The Australian Church Record, number 1906, October 2012, has been released.
On 19 September, Parliament defeated a bill attempting to change the definition of marriage to include same-sex partnerships. The bill was soundly defeated, 98-42, with the Liberals honoring their election promise to stand against such changes, and some 40% of voting Labor parliamentarians joining them. This is an historic affirmation of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
